Our Roots

We created the Bexley Brewfest in 2019 after losing our father, husband, and grandfather, Frank “Paboo” Wakeham, to Alzheimer’s Disease. Alzheimer’s Disease has forever impacted - and continues to impact - our families and the lives of so many of our friends, neighbors, and loved ones. The pain of watching a loved one slowly disappear in front of you is a gut-wrenching experience for everyone involved.

So what can we do?

While we personally cannot come up with a cure…

We can raise money to help fund the research to eradicate this horrible disease once and for all.

We can ask our amazing community for help.

We can have some fun along the way!

Thus, the birth of Bexley Brewfest!

Brewfest 2024

The 2024 Bexley BrewFest Presented by The Elliott Group of Raymond James and The Gledhill & Talis Real Estate Group of Cutler Real Estate will again be held on a closed Main Street in downtown Bexley, Ohio, and will feature even more breweries this year: 30+ of the best craft breweries from Central Ohio and beyond!

Our event this year, from 3-8pm, will have TWO stages of live music along with more food trucks and (we heard you!) TONS of free water, thanks to our sponsor!

We are again combining our event with the City of Bexley’s Annual Labor Day Celebration! To attend the BrewFest, you need to buy a ticket. The City’s event is free and will feature a full slate of wonderful family events and fun!

The combined event will be open to everyone and all ages in terms of walkability with no restrictions - however, you will need to be 21+ and have a wristband to enjoy samples from the breweries!

Past Brewfests

2023

What an incredible event we had in 2023! More breweries than ever, along with some ciders and wines for those non-beer drinkers coming to support our fantastic cause. Great music on multiple stages plus delicious food and wares from local vendors made this a day not to be missed!

2022

Year 4 was another incredible success! The support of the community in Bexley continues to blow us away! Fantastic beer, awesome music, and lots of fun had by all!

2021

For our third Brewfest, we moved to Main Street and held our event in conjunction with the Bexley Labor Day Celebration - and the turnout was unprecedented! More breweries, more fantastic music, more great sponsors, and fun for everyone. And the largest amount of money raised for Alzheimer’s research by this event so far!

2020

The second Bexley Brewfest was a tremendous success despite the overwhelming headwinds of Covid 19. We sold over 200 “Brewfest Bundles” as our event was kept alive by the generous support of friends, neighbors, and businesses. The end result was an incredible (socially distant) event and much-needed funds were raised for Alzheimer’s research.

2019

Our first year. With great support from local businesses and the Bexley community, we launched our inaugural event on a beautiful day in late September. We had 15 breweries, 3 food trucks, a couple of bands, and a great time hanging out with friends and supporters - oh, and we raised money for a good cause along the way!
